I have some experience doing research remotely for the following areas:

Massachusetts
I have used both mail to Vital Records and Mass-Doc. Mass-Doc does a fine job for a pretty small incremental cost.
Cape Breton, Canada
Illinois

The best place I've found to figure out phone numbers and contact information for Vital Records is Vitalrec.com.

Documentation

I have scanned in all of my source documents and loaded them up here. You will require a password to get in, if you don't know your password, or have forgotten it, let me know through the usual channels.

Here are copies of reasonably recent research logs. I'll update them occasionally, probably not every time as it's inconvienent to convert the individual sheets to PDF out of Excel.

A few things to help you in research.

The Mormon (aka LDS) Family History Centers have complete, free acess to Ancestry.com You can even download the .sid images and get them to your home machine and then view and export them with the MrSID viewer from Lizardtech.
